Michael Goodridge MBE has lived in the Borough all his life and in Wonersh since 1988. He is married to Hilary, who between them have four sons and eight grandchildren. He is a retired Solicitor and retired Deputy District Judge.
He has always been involved in the community, and his involvement has been included being Chairman of the Governor of various schools and colleges, such as Godalming College, St Hilary’s School, Godalming, Busbridge Infants School and St Marks School, Godalming. He was awarded his MBE in 2004 for services to further education in Godalming. Michale has served as Chairman and member of the local CAB for over 20 years and been Chairman of Surrey Victim Support. He is currently Chairman of the Godalming Performing Arts Festival as well as Llanway Homes. He is Vice Chairman of Godalming Museum.
Michael was first elected to Godalming Borough Council in November 1973 and has served on the Borough Council for over 25 years since 1987, representing parts of Godalming as well as Wonersh and Blackheath and now the Bramley and Wonersh ward, and was Borough Mayor in 2001/2002. He also served on Godalming Town Council from 1974 to 2007 and was Town Mayor 1987/88. His interests in Local Government include Planning, Licensing and Environment.
Michael’s interests include gardening and DIY. He is a keen Rotarian (President again in 2024/25), having been in Round Table and is a Liveryman in the City and was Master of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators 2015/16.
