Sport Haslemere
Description
Sport Haslemere promotes sport in
the following areas – Haslemere,
Hindhead, Grayshott, Headley, Churt, Wormley,
Chiddingfold, Dunsfold, Alfold,
Fernhurst, Midhurst, Liphook,
Liss, Bordon and surrounding villages.
We want more people to be active and to enjoy a rich variety of
sport and activities to include: yoga; martial arts; golf;
badminton; tennis; equestrian; archery; trampolining; fencing; table tennis plus the
mainstream team sports.
Its
aims are:
- To
attract more member clubs
- To
advertise sporting facilities in the area
- To
improve the existing sport facilities in a wide local
area
- To
encourage residents to take part in sport and
recreation
- To
offer advice to Haslemere Town Council,
Waverley Borough Council and other organisations on the
improvement, refurbishment and provision of new
facilities
- To
maintain an up-to-date record of sporting & leisure clubs
within the area
- To
provide Haslemere and Waverley Councils
with opinions reflecting the views of local sports interests
– the development of sport and recreation in the local
area
- To
work to establish relationships with other sports councils and
regional and national sporting and recreational bodies.
- To
promote sport for the disabled
- To
recognise local sporting people via our Sports Awards
- To
promote sport in all local schools – primary and
secondary
- To
sponsor young sportspeople with international potential via our
‘Create a Star’ programme
- To
encourage Clubs to gain Clubmark
accreditation where possible
