Charter Against Modern Slavery

Decision:

The Executive resolved to RECOMMEND that the Council enters into the Charter Against Modern Slavery, as set out in Appendix One.

 

Minutes:

Councillor Kiehl, Portfolio Holder for Organisational Development and Governance, introduced The report that recommended that the Council adopt the Co-Operative Party Charter against Modern Slavery (the Charter). 

 

It was explained that the Council made it clear in its statement in October 2019 that it opposes slavery and human trafficking and never knowingly conducts business with partners, contractors, supply chain or employees involved in such practice. 

 

Members stated they wholeheartedly supported the report and that there was no reason not to accept this policy and to welcome it within procurement policy.

 

The Executive resolved to RECOMMEND that the Council enters into the Charter Against Modern Slavery, as set out in Appendix One.
