Confirmation of Chairman for the 2021-22 Municipal Year

The Confirm Cllr Robert Knowles as Chairman of the Licensing and General Purposes Committee for 2021/22.

Minutes:

Councillor Robert Knowles was agreed as the Chairman of the Licensing (General Purpose) Sub Committee for 2021-2022.

Councillor Peter Isherwood submitted apologies for the meeting and Cllr Michael Goodridge attended as substitute.

Declarations of Interest

Review of Hackney Carriage/Private Hire Licence

To consider the attached exempt Report.

The Sub-Committee considered a report regarding a review of a Hackney Carriage/ Private Hire Vehicle License. The applicant was in attendance and clarified the circumstances laid out in the report which the Committee had been asked to consider.

 

The Sub-Committee considered the report and evidence provided as well as taking into account the applicants verbal representation. The Council’s licensing solicitor had been asked to advise the Sub-Committee during their deliberations on the wording of their decision.

 

RESOLVED that the driver:

·         would be given 10 points on his Waverley Driving licence with a warning that should he accrue any more points he would be back in front of the Committee and would most likely lose his licence.

·         be strongly advised to keep records of all pre-bookings in the future.

·         Be ordered to carry out refresher training with Waverley officers on the processes to be carried out for pre-bookings and collecting clients (especially at airports).

To consider the following recommendation on the motion of the Chairman:-

 

Recommendation

 

That pursuant to Procedure Rule 20 and in accordance with Section 100A(4) of the Local Government Act 1972, the press and public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of the following items on the grounds that it is likely, in view of the nature of the business to be transacted or the nature of the proceedings, that if members of the public were present during the items, there would be disclosure to them of exempt information (as defined by Section 100I of the Act) of the description specified in paragraph 1 of the revised Part 1 of Schedule 12A to the Act in respect of the following item:
